“The credit union leaders of today developing those of tomorrow”

The charitable purpose of the ICULD&E Foundation is to provide financial assistance as Course Bursaries/assisted places to qualifying credit union activists to attend Credit Union Development Educator courses outside their homelands. (The bursaries don’t cover travel costs.)

In the past 4 years, 18 Development Educator graduates, known as “Pell Scholars” (from 11 countries and 4 continents) have received course bursaries to attend DE courses in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe and North America. However, money raised from our fundraising events is not keeping up with the ever increasing demand for bursaries - to find out more and grow new leaders for the credit union movement worldwide, click here.

The ICULD&E Foundation also promotes:

MyDonate - Fundraising page for Development Educator Course Bursaries

The ICULD&E Foundation is one of just two charitable organisations providing bursaries for individuals to attend Development Educator (DE) courses outside their homelands, the other is the Australian Mutuals Foundation, one of its strategic partners.

For those who don't know, DE courses provide a total immersion in credit union history, philosophy, corporate governance and operational activity over an intense 5 or 6 day period, developing new and latent skills in all who attend; inspiring them to become more imbued with practical cooperation, aware of the value of their place in social economy and impact on society.

Development Educators are the "strivers" and "doers" of the credit union movement, the natural leaders who can identify societal needs and deliver solutions.

As a result of the growing demand for bursaries from around the world, funds are diminishing and, sadly, a ceiling has had to be set on the number granted as well as amounts given in individual cases.  So, in addition to its annual fundraising event, the "Credit Union Oscars", the ICULD&E Foundation is now registered with British Telecom's "MyDonate" online fundraising site (chosen because "MyDonate" is a free not-for-profit service, part of BT’s commitment to raise £1 billion for good causes by 2020.)

The ICULDEF is about “credit union leaders of today building those of tomorrow” – please click on the "MyDonate" button to donate what ever you can to help us in spreading the unique credit union difference and bringing its benefits to all.

Visit our charity page on BT MyDonate

UK donors can register for Gift Aid and official receipts will be issued to all organisations on request.
